Nothing Has Changed: Except the Leader

Why is it that a new leader can step into a role with an existing team performing with average results and in a relatively short time triple or quadruple their productivity?

The people are the same, the product is the same, the economy is the same.

Nothing has changed except the leader.

The secret sauce of leadership is being able to inspire that extra 10% of “discretionary effort” that people will not give you if they are not engaged with fire in their bellies.

A leader who is liked and respected with a high performing team is no accident.

It happens because the leader understands that leadership is not something you do to people.

It is something you develop in yourself.
